Whitney and I met as Forestry students at the University of Montana, in Missoula, Montana. A common interest in timber sports and western swing dancing kindled our friendship and eventually we began dating. I graduated in 2006, and moved to Plains, MT where I got a job as a Forester with the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation. Whitney joined me in Plains when she graduated and began working for the US Forest Service, first as a Fire Prevention Tech. and then as a Silviculture / Timber Stand Improvement Tech. Today we are thankful to have two good jobs, living and working in a place we love.
At our home in Plains, we share our place with two dogs, 20 chickens, and three bee hives (hopefully more to come). We enjoy gardening, beekeeping, chicken keeping and any nature of other adventures. We are avid hunters and gatherers, and enjoy preparing and preserving our own food. We believe in eating locally as much as possible and doing our part to return to a more community based lifestyle.
This blog was started in 2008 as a place for us to post pictures and information about our wedding and new home for family and friends. Later, the blog evolved into a place for posting pictures and stories of our adventures and today is focused on modern homesteading and hunting / gathering.
